What is Marsy's Law?
Marsy’s Law ensures that crime victims have clear, meaningful, and enforceable rights throughout the criminal justice process.
In Arkansas, Marsy’s Law would help protect victims by making sure they are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect; kept informed about important developments in their cases; given the opportunity to be present and heard during key proceedings; and protected from intimidation, harassment, or unnecessary delays.
Too often, victims are left trying to navigate a complex justice system without basic information or a guaranteed voice. Marsy’s Law is about changing that. It would help ensure victims and their families are not forgotten after a crime occurs and that their safety, privacy, and participation are respected from the beginning of a case through its conclusion.
By strengthening victims’ rights, Arkansas can take an important step toward a justice system that recognizes the needs of victims while upholding fairness for all.
